NECESSITY OF RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT BASED PROJECTS

Research and Development is part and parcel of ‘Knowledge Creation’ which in turn creates prosperity and wealth. It is said that ‘an idea’ can change your life; yes, on the same basis R&D brings profits and wealth to your enterprise.

Thus, R&D is most important part in our career as it provides new ideas, sharpens one’s imagination and provides unlimited opportunity in technology development and growth.

This also helps in making new products & systems.

It is through ‘R&D’ approach that science is converted into technology and brings practical applications to human society for their well being. R&D is most crucial in Electronics, IT and Communication field. Most progressive organizations spend 5 to 10% of their income on R & D. R&D culture is non-existent in India except for a few industries & organizations. However, it is time to pick up pace as this is a task of ‘Nation building’. China’s supremacy in hardware is because of their ‘R&D’ strength and it has made them super power. Though, India is excelling in IT field, we have to do lot of hard work to achieve similar goals in Electronics and Communication & several other fields.

          IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT

R & D helps building product indigenously and progressively grows to build an ecosystem and institutional framework for innovation, technology development, skills, delivery plans, collaboration, partnership and market orientation in a number of niche areas of national importance and market relevance in ICT and Electronics. Through in-house research, technology and product development efforts in collaboration with Academia, Research Labs and Industry in India or abroad, it leads to identify promising ideas nurtured building of ideas and competencies to convert many of them into practical tools, technologies, products and services to meet the needs of : SMEs and other industrial players in the country; intermediate players; and end-users in Science and Engineering, manufacturing & service sectors, government, health, development and strategic sectors. Govt accredits institutes/organizations also for conducting R & D based courses particularly in the non-formal sector of IT Education & Training. At the same time, efforts are required in aligning the activities R & D and those of its related areas towards its main focus i.e.
manpower development in the area of Information, Electronics and Communication Technology (IECT).

The other importance of R&D based training programme includes:
  • To generate quality manpower and develop skilled professionals in the area of Information, Electronics and Communications Technology (IECT) and allied, by providing world-class education & training and accreditation services
  • To provide continuing support to learners and trainers through active design & development of innovative curricula and acquisition of content aligned with the dynamically changing IECT scenario
  • To establish a quality system of examination and certification that is globally recognized and provides a fair assessment at the competency of students
  • To establish standards in the areas of IECT and to develop markets in the emerging areas
  • To develop entrepreneurs and provide R&D based services to users.
  • To encourage and nurture industry academic interaction through inter-disciplinary cooperation amongst Scientists, Technocrats, Administrators and Entrepreneurs
  • Development of viable technologies in the area of materials mainly for electronics.
  • Develop knowledge base in electronics materials and their processing technology for the Indian industry and become a source of critical electronics materials, know-how and technical services for the industry and other sectors of economy.
  • Establish the technology up to pilot scale for a range of electronic materials, transfer the same to industry for commercialization; to establish relevant characterization facilities; to undertake applied research activities in the area of its operation; to establish national Data Base on Electronics Materials.
  • Research and Development in the area of Data Communication and its Application; Human Resource Development in the area of High-end Networking; Educational Content; and Campus-wide High Speed Local Area Network. The innovations and breakthrough achieved through these areas, should represent the core strengths of the technology so that end-users enjoy the best experience and satisfaction. The architecture of the Network has to be so designed to deliver broadband value added service and applications like Web casting, IPcasting, Digital Library and Distance Learning.
  • To connect any institution anywhere in the country on its backbone to share resources and undertake collaborative research and applications
  • Leveraging the information and communication technologies and other advanced technologies for the benefit of the common man with collaborative research in the task of developing relevant and sustainable technologies and bringing them to the users.
